Naantali Music Festival 4-15 June 2013
This year, the 34th Naantali Music Festival will be kicking off the Finnish summertime festival season in sunny, coastal Naantali. The old idyllic wooden houses, medieval Convent Church and wide range of top-quality restaurant and accommodation services offer a unique setting for a memorable musical experience.
The music festival programme includes a magnificent series of concerts in the old Convent Church of Naantali as well as in idyllic churches in the archipelago, night-time concerts, a concert cruise to the island of Seili, concerts and dinner at the Naantali Kaivohuone Restaurant, park concerts and music for children. The music festival will attract performers such as legendary pianist Grigori Sokolov, sopranos Johanna Rusanen-Kartano and Mari Palo, violinists Elina Vähälä and Jaakko Kuusisto, the Rajaton band, Camerata Ireland led by Barry Douglas and the Lahti Symphony Orchestra conducted by Okko Kamu.
Once again, artistic manager and cellist Arto Noras has compiled a brilliant concert programme featuring beautiful chamber music and invited a selection of some of the most talented Finnish and international artists to perform.
